Tuomas Vainionpää — the person behind your plan

Tuomas is the founder of Talvia Private Journeys, an independent travel-planning service for Finnish Lapland. His hands-on tourism experience began in 2016 and includes guiding, guest operations, transfers, accommodation and private villa hospitality.

That experience shapes the practical questions behind a Talvia itinerary: how long the whole outing takes, how the day feels after a late evening, whether a location suits the group and where there should be room to pause.

Why Talvia exists

Planning a trip is about more than finding interesting places. Those choices need to fit together: the location, the pace of your party and what matters most to you about the holiday.

Talvia brings practical experience built since 2016 to those decisions. The aim is to help you understand how the days work while leaving room to enjoy them. A shared meal, a slow morning or a timely return to the warm belongs in the plan just as much as a booked experience.

Experience translated into decisions

An activity description is only part of the day. Guests also need to reach the meeting point, change clothing, eat and return to their accommodation. Talvia’s approach considers those connections alongside the experiences themselves.

Your interests and circumstances set the direction. A first family visit, a quieter trip for two and a custom private holiday need different choices. The aim is a plan you understand and can use, with recommendations that fit together.

Three decisions behind the plan

• Count the whole outing. A one-hour activity also needs collection, clothing, meals and the return journey.
• Check the address. A destination name does not reveal the distance to food, meeting points or the nearest suitable transfer.
• Protect recovery time. A late evening changes what the next morning should ask of the group.

Planning covers Rovaniemi, Levi, Ivalo, Inari, Saariselkä, Pyhä/Luosto and Ylläs in Lapland, as well as Ruka/Kuusamo. The exact base and travel distances are considered as part of your brief.

How you work together

Planning is delivered remotely from Helsinki. Tuomas reviews your brief and agrees the scope, fee and delivery before work begins. You or your travel partner check availability, reserve services and pay the providers directly. Talvia does not provide on-site coordination or on-trip support.
